Coral

Nicki T. (gets up and opens the door): Finally! I was just talking about you.
Levina: That was an astounding entrance.
Coral: Not really. I was standing outside the door, waiting for Nicki to explain before I came in.
Levina: So, are you going to introduce yourself?
Coral: I'm Coral. And you're Levina.
Levina (impressed): How did you know?
Coral: I just told you was waiting outside the door. I had my ear pressed to it.
Nicki T. (laughing): Why am I not surprised?
Coral: Possibly because you created me and you know my every habit and liking. Though I might surprise you at times with my behavior.
Nicki T.: Why don't I doubt that in the least?
Coral: Because you created me and knock I delight in surprising people?
Nicki T.: You do at that.
Sir Eli: Welcome to the cast. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Coral: Knowing Nicki, I won't. I heard what she did to Selene a couple weeks ago.
Nicki T.: You obviously know me fairly well.
(Jarek snores from the chair. He's out like a light.)
Coral: Sh!
(She tiptoes behind the chair. She gives it a shove and it falls to the floor. Jarek falls out and sits up, looking dazed.)
Nicki T.: Was that really necessary, Coral?
Coral: Not really. Hi, Jarek. I'm Coral.
Jarek: Do you spell that C-O-R-E-L or C-O-R-R-A-L.
Coral: I think you've got the brains to figure that out.
Levina (to Coral): He doesn't.

What do you guys think of Coral? I'm trying to make her mischevious, but not mean in any way.

Conversations with Characters (Again)

Hello, my few readers! I'm going through the research stages of my medieval fantasy. I'm having trouble deciding what time to set it in. Right now, I'm thinking about the 14th century. Then again, maybe at some point later. Oh, the indecision!

Anyway, here is my cast of characters. I'm working out the details of the story at the moment. The original idea just doesn't have enough to it, so I'm considering adding in another main character (one who shows up during part two), who comes with her own set of problems to make things even more complicated. I wonder what everyone thinks of that...

(My characters are sitting around in my living room. Jarek is relaxing in a chair that looks like it might collapse under his weight. Sir Eli is leaning in the doorway. Levina is sitting on the couch. Nicki T. is staring at the computer screen. Her eyes are glazed over.)

Levina: Are you almost done yet, Nicki?
Nicki T.: Kind of busy.
Sir Eli: Computers are an evil invention.
Nicki T.: You're just saying that because they weren't invented when you existed.
Sir Eli: That's not the point. And I do exist at this moment.
Nicki T.: Only in my imagination. And if you want, my imagination can imagine you away.
Levina: So, are you nearly done?
Nicki T.: No. And I won't be done for a while.
Jarek: How long does it take to research for a book?
Nicki T.: Several months.
Jarek: But I have to be back for dinner tonight!
Nicki T.: I'm going to stop for a break in a minute or two.
Levina (covering her mouth in an attempt to stop herself from laughing): Um, Nicki? What were you saying earlier about my sharing a position as MC with someone else?
Nicki T.: Yes. It's not that I don't find your story interesting, I just think it'll be better if you share it with someone.
Levina: I don't really mind. But who were you thinking of?
(A knock at the door.)
Nicki T.: I think that's her now.

Favorites

Okay, I have decided to list my favorite antagonists and protagonists today. No special reason.

Favorite protagonists:

Percy Jackson (from Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

He's got a serious gift for ticking people off. And when it comes to girls, he's stuck in the middle between Rachel and Annabeth.

Auralia (from Auralia's Colors)

She's wild. Plays with animals that people are scared of. She has a talent for colors that astonishes everyone around her - and also alarms them because it's illegal.

Katniss (from The Hunger Games)

She's willing to do whatever to takes to protect her family and friends - even if it means she'll get killed in the process. She hunts illegally for what her family needs, knowing that if she ever gets caught, she'll be executed. However, when she shows up at the market with a turkey, everyone, even the people who are supposed to punish her for what she does, follows the standard protocol - bid on the drumsticks.

Favorite antagonists:

Mother Gothel (from Tangled)

She's rotten enough to kidnap a little girl, but treats the girl nicely. She keeps her in a tower, yes, but the tower is big and the girl has plenty to do. Mother Gothel is even willing to take a trip to the beach to get shells to make the girl paint - a three day trip.

Alexei Sarov (from Skeleton Key)

He's attempting to reinstate communism, but he's not willing to kill the spy they sent to find out what he was doing. He's even willing to adopt him, mostly because the spy reminds him of his son.

Catching Fire

I have at last read Catching Fire!!!!!!

After waiting weeks for it to come to the library, it finally came! And did it fulfill my expectations?

Katniss, after winning the Hunger Games and defying the capital in the process, is home at last. She's worried that the capital will punish her for a little stunt she pulled in the arena during the Games. Her worst fears come true when President Snow comes for a little chat. He's warning her - if she doesn't convince everyone she's hopelessly in love with Peeta (who she has little interest in) he'll kill her family and her friend's family. So, during a tour of districts 1-11 (she lives in district 12) she attempts to convince the world that she wasn't defying the Capitol during the Games. Unfortunately, she fails. In a desperate last ditch attempt to save the lives of everyone she loves, she agrees to marry Peeta when she's old enough. Peeta's fine with the arrangement (since his feelings are the complete opposite of Katniss's - he's hopelessly in love with her) and the two begin to make plans for their wedding. However, the Capitol isn't fooled. Katniss - and her pin with the mockingjay on it - have become a symbol of defiance. And they want both destroyed.

I loved this book. The end of the book can be a bit confusing if you don't read it carefully. Also, Peeta lies, telling everyone he and Katniss are already married. He also claims Katniss is going to have a baby. I thought that was a totally unnecessary lie and was rather disappointed. Still, the book was pretty good. I can't wait to find out what happened next.

Adios!

Skeleton Key

Skeleton Key has arrived at the library at last! Book three in the Alex Rider series is soooo great! I was kind of disappointed Wolf didn't show up again, though.

In this one, Alex meets up with a man from M16 while at a sports game. The man offers him a chance to go to Wimbledon as a ball boy. After uncovering a plot to ensure a certain tennis player wins, M16 sends him to pose as the son of two CIA agents who are traveling to an island near Cuba - Skeleton Key.

I really liked the villain in this one. Sarov is very human. He knows Alex is a threat. He has the power to kill him - and every reason. But he won't because Alex reminds him of his son Vladimir. He's actually willing to let Alex become his son. If Sarov's crazy plan goes though, that would mean Alex could have almost anything he wanted. But Alex does everything in his power to stop him. Sarov honestly believes what he's doing is right, too.

Well, that's all for now! Adios!

Have I ever mentioned that I write poetry? Not a lot of it, but I find it enjoyable when I have an idea. Here's a poem I just wrote.

Ode to Onomatopoeia

It rings,
It crashes,
It bashes,
It drips,
It ticks,
It tocks,
It thuds,
It clangs,
It bangs.
What else is there to say?

Please comment and say what you think of my poem.

Apocalypse? and other matters

I'm not supposed to be posting today.

The world was supposed to end yesterday. And it didn't.

Sure, it would have been nice if the world ended. We would all be in heaven with Jesus. And I wouldn't have to worry about learning how to graph a circle. But the world didn't end.

And, to be honest, I wasn't expecting it to.

How do you think they're going to explain this one? An error in their calculations, most likely. (Or most definitely.) Or maybe just an error in even thinking they could predict it. After all, "no one knows the day or the hour". So I went about my business yesterday and actually forgot the apocalypse. And it turns out I didn't need to worry. :)

So, now that the threat of the apocalypse is over, I think I'll have a talk with my characters about it.

Nicki T.: Phew! Disaster averted.
Sir Eli: I suppose you could say that.
Levina: Then again, I suppose you could say there was never a disaster to avert.
(Everyone laughs.)
Nicki T.: Hey Jarek! It's raining fire!
Jarek: AHHHHHHH!
(Jarek runs away, trying to find shelter. Nicki T. snickers. Levina rolls her eyes. Sir Eli glares, but there is a small smile at the corners of his mouth.)
Levina: She was just teasing, Jarek.
Jarek (coming out from under the table): I knew that.
Levina (attempting to hide a smile): Oh, really. Sir Eli, did you think it was going to happen?
Sir Eli: I had my hopes.
(A rumbling sound fills the air. The floor starts shaking.)
Jarek: EARTHQUAKE! THEY WERE RIGHT AFTER ALL!
(Jarek dives under the table again.)
Nicki T.: Jarek? That was just a truck going by.
Jarek: What's a truck?
Nicki T.: It's kind of like a carriage, only without horses.

(Please note none of my characters but Nicki T. know what a truck is because they're from a medieval world. They don't have a clue either, they just don't ask.)

Conversations with Characters

Okay, how many of you know what a plot bunny is? For those of my readers who have never
heard of them, a plot bunny is an idea that will simply not leave a writer alone while they're working on something else. Plot bunnies seem to enjoy picking on me quite a bit. However, I've learned how to deal with them.

Advice on how to deal with plot bunnies - indulge them, spoil them, and give them what they want. Just don't write about them until you're done what you're already working on.

Levina is my current plot bunny. She's clamoring for attention, and as long as I humor her, she doesn't complain - much, anyway. So I am going to humor her... right now. I currently have four characters, but I'm only going to use three.

Nicki T.: Would you guys please leave me alone?
Sir Eli: We need some attention here.
Levina: I don't mean to push, but I would like to get this over with.
Nicki T.: Well, I always could just prolong it.
Jarek: I think prolonging it could be take, uh...
Levina: A while, Jarek.
(Nicki T. snickers. Levina smiles.)
Nicki T. (whispering to Levina): Is he always like that?
Levina: What do you think?
(Sir Eli gives Nicki T. and Levina a stern look.)
Levina (clears her throat): So, do you think that you can start soon?
Nicki T. (scratches the back of her neck): I just don't know. I've got other obligations, you know. To other characters. Like Petra and Maryiss.
Jarek: We're important, too!
Nicki T.: When, pray, did I state that you weren't?
Jarek: I dunno. When did you?
(Levina smiles at Nicki T. They wink.)
Nicki T.: Now, about the timing. I have research to do before I start. Medieval fantasy is great, it just requires research.
(Levina sighs.)
Levina: Why can't you start now and research as you work?
Nicki T.: Because I have other writing to do. And you'll just have to wait for that.

Levina

Hello, readers of my blog, however few you may be! I have found another tag on Whispers of the Wind and have decided to use it!

What is your name?

Nicki T.

Age

Does that really matter?

What do you like most about writing?

Complete and total control of my characters. (Evil laughter.) Seriously, bringing ideas and thoughts in my head to life is probably the best part. That and if I look up writing websites, they will often mention books that I've never heard of. This is the way I heard about Hunger Games, Blood of Kings, and so many other wonderful books.

How many books are you writing or have written?

Have written? I've lost track. Am writing? Not sure exactly. I try to focus on one story, then some other idea comes in and starts making unreasonable demands for attention.

Now, do this quiz for one of your favorite characters you have come up with for a book.

Name

Princess Levina (I would post a picture, but I don't really have any since I haven't started her story yet.)

Age

Well, when the story starts out, she's probably ten or eleven. Then, after the first bit, I skip ahead several years because what happens in those years isn't important. I haven't quite figured out how many years yet, though, but it's safe to say no older than sixteen at any point during the story.

Hair color

Golden. Her hair is very soft and wavy.

Eye Color

Blue. A deep, vivid, expressive blue, while everyone else in her land has hazel or brown eyes.

Height

No exact height, but she's small at the start of the book. She grows larger toward the end.

Weight

She's very slender, particularly when she's wearing a corset.

Biggest Pet Peeve

People who, for some reason, seem to think that girls make easier targets than boys. She's a sweet person, but people who think she's an easy target are sadly mistaken. (She carries a small knife in part one, but at the beginning of part two carries none. That changes, though.)

Favorite Color

Light blues and dark blues - blues that are in between aren't her thing. Her favorite blue of all, though, is the blue of a stream in the forest, with dappled sunlight sparkling off of it.

Siblings

Prince Quinlan. He's a bit of a wimp, and their uncle uses him after stealing the throne.
Parents

King Ahar and Queen Alina. Queen Alina died when she was four, and the king remarried. Levina's stepmother is named Oriana. I've been considering giving her a half brother by Queen Oriana, but I'm not sure about it yet. I'd probably make him bolder than Quinlan, which would make it more difficult for Levina's uncle (and more interesting to read.)

Anybody like this one? Or have any other tags to suggest to me on characters and stories? I'd welcome them!

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

Okay, everybody. I've been thinking I should post, so that is exactly what I am doing.

I'm working on another idea for a story. It will probably wait until this summer to be written, but I'm working on it. Not every story I plan out gets finished. I frequently give up on stories, but, just as frequently, I take characters with me. Like Uriel, for example. He's the son of a noble, who dresses extravagantly, reads quite a bit, is a master with the sword, and longs for an adventure, which he's willing to give up anything for. He's a character who likes coming in and asking for a role. Uriel will be given a role in this story, though it won't be one he wants.

Basically, this story (which I will need to do research for) is about a princess named Levina. When her uncle attempts to take the throne, she escapes and heads to somewhere he'll never find her. She's not planning to take back the throne - it was never going to be hers anyway. It was meant for her brother, who her uncle is using to take the throne. Levina just wants to live the rest of her life quietly, somewhere where she won't have people falling over their heads bowing to her and where she won't have to wear a corset every day, since she abhors them. She finds this life on an island off the coast of what is now her uncle's kingdom. And for several years, she is content, despite the havoc her uncle's rule is wrecking.

Then, one day, an old friend comes through her city. One of her royal guards from years ago. He urges her to come back and take the throne, but she refuses. She's happy with her quiet life. Besides, if she announces her identity she'll have to go ahead with the arranged marriage her uncle planned. And she doesn't mind the person she'll have to marry, but she'd rather find her own husband. Preferably one who doesn't spend his day in the library every day. Or brag about his sword fighting. Or care more about his clothes than she does, not that she cares that much.(Yes, that character is Uriel.) However, her friend convinces her it's all for the best, so she goes along with it reluctantly. She announces her identity and begins to gather an army.

That's all I've got so far. It's only in the beginning stages, though. Does the idea sound cliched to anyone else, because it kind of seems a bit like that to me. It's not exactly original, but I'm not done with it yet. There's something missing right now. I'm working on filling in the blank, and while I do that, I have research to do on medieval culture before I start writing. Also, that will give the story the time it needs for me to work on it. Not only do I have to do research, I also have to find someone who will help me with a map (because I can't draw - at all. Well, at least not realistically.)

Well, that's all for now!

Adios!

I'm posting "Ode To Newfoundland" because I think the words are soooo pretty. Let's see if anyone else agrees.

Some Random Ramblings

Hello, everyone. Whoever liked the conversation between my characters that was posted last week is in for another treat. This time, though, I'm picking characters from a different story. Their names are Petra Rider and Maryiss Vulpes (Yes, I'm aware that's a weird name, I'm trying to find a different one) will be joining today.

Nicki T.: Okay, we need to have a little talk.
Petra: If you don't mind, I'm brainstorming ideas for my escape at the moment, so keep it quick.
Nicki T.: That's the subject I wanted to converse on, Petra. Why didn't you manage to escape from the last place I put you in? You've got the brainpower.
Petra: I'm better with computers than with anything else.
Nicki T.: I'm aware. But you're supposed to be a genius! I gave you a brain - USE IT!
Petra: I heard you talking to your fantasy characters, remember? It's supposed to be hard for us!
Nicki T.: Were you outside my bedroom door again? We talked about this!
Maryiss: Quit it!
Nicki T.: Maryiss, this is something I'm working out with Petra. Just keep out of it.
Maryiss: Look, Nicki, I know you're in charge. But please just cool down for a second?
Nicki T.: Whatever.
Petra: Sure, sure. Nicki's in charge, and the power's gone to her head.
Nicki T.(seething with rage): You think I'M in charge?! Who keeps refusing to escape when I tell her to? Who lost her temper and told everyone she knew they were spying on her? And WHO, may I ask, is in charge here anyway?!
Petra: Oh, I don't know. The story?
Maryiss: So, when does something interesting happen in my world? I mean, not that what's going on isn't freaking me out, but when does something really big happen?
Nicki T.: You need to reconsider what that man suggested and go to get Petra's little brother.
Petra (crossing her arms): I am not putting my little brother in danger to make your story more interesting. Sorry, so not happening.
Nicki T.: It's so happening, Petra. That's why you have to escape before they go to get your brother. That way, when Maryiss arrives, he's not there.
Petra: It takes four hours to drive to the city, plus however much time I need to get him out. And I need to get there before Maryiss... that leaves me ten hours to get out!
Nicki T.: See, now you have even more motivation, don't you?
Petra: Like I needed it before.
Maryiss: So, when he's not there, what do I do?
Nicki T.: Give up. Quit.
Maryiss: WHAT! Do you have any idea what the consequences of quitting are? Public humiliation, having to go find another job which means I'll have to find a new place to stay -
Nicki T.: Don't worry - it's temporary.
Maryiss: I'm thinking maybe I'll show up earlier than Petra.
Nicki T.: Don't worry, Petra, she won't make it.
Petra: I'm thinking maybe this might turn out okay.
Maryiss: This had better be temporary, Nicki.
Nicki T.: Hey, relax! What's the worst thing I could do to my characters?
(Petra and Maryiss look her in the eye.)
Nicki T.: Don't worry, I'm not as bad as the people who you're fighting against.
Petra: You're worse.
Nicki T. (sounding offended): Ouch.

Did anyone find that interesting? At all? I find it helps me figure out a bit about my characters.

Adios!

The Healer's Apprentice

I just finished a really good book called The Healer's Apprentice, by Melanie Dickerson. It's a fairy tale romance based on Sleeping Beauty. In the story, the main character, Rose, is attempting to become a healer so that her mother won't make her marry an old bachelor, particularly that awful Peter Brunckhorst. When Lord Hamlin comes home after studying at university, Rose doesn't expect anything important to happen... until he's brought in after an accident. With the local healer, Frau Geruscha, gone, Rose tries to tend to his wound. Against her will, she finds herself falling in love with him, she tries to do banish her feelings, particularly since he's betrothed. I really liked this book, and recommend it for anyone who likes fantasy or romance. She has another book coming out in December called The Merchant's Daughter. Needless to say, I will be getting my hands on a copy when it comes out. I also intend on buying my own copy of The Healer's Apprentice, which I only have out from the library at the moment.

Owl City - Early Birdie with lyrics

Love this song.

Conversations with Characters

Hello, everyone!

I have decided to have a conversation with my characters. Yes, I know my characters aren't real. (At least, I hope not. They might come seeking revenge for the stuff that I inflict on them in my stories. Particularly Selene on Make A Wish, a blog I'm a part of. I caused her to use the use of a leg a few weeks ago. She hasn't been complaining, but you never know.)

Okay, back to the point of the post. The story I've picked characters from doesn't actually have a title at the moment. But there's four characters I'm using. And their names are Callista, Damek (I intend on finding another one for him, that one's just what I have for now) Uriel, and Alinsia. (Alinsia is also not for sure yet.)

Well, anyway, time for my talk with my characters.

Nicki T.: So, guys, Callista's finally on her way.
Callista: Has anyone ever told you your methods of getting unwilling characters to leave on their quests is nothing less than rotten?
Nicki T.: Not really.
Damek: So, when do I enter the picture? I'm getting just a bit impatient waiting here.
Uriel: I've been wondering too. I mean, not that I'm trying to push this or anything, but I'm waiting to go have an adventure.
Nicki T.: When you actually get going on an adventure, you might wish you had showed up closer to the end. Trust me on this one, adventures are painful.
Callista: I'm finding that out. Could you have at least let me grab a half decent weapon before I left? It's going to be tough out there.
Nicki T.: I gave you a weapon! And be glad I did! I could have made you loose it on the way out! You'd be in serious trouble without what I gave you.
Callista (frustrated with Nicki T.): THAT WAS MOST CERTAINLY NOT A DECENT WEAPON!
Alinsia (going through the contents of the leather pouch she always carries): Would you please not be so loud? I'm attempting to take stock of what I have in here. I need more linen, would you please let me grab some before I have to leave, Nicki?
Nicki T.: I'll think about it.
Uriel: Surely it would be beneficial to the group if she could?
Nicki T. (slightly annoyed): You obviously don't get the idea. I'm supposed to make it as hard as possible for you. If it's too easy, then no one will want to read it.
Alinsia: You are joking, correct?
Nicki T.: No, why?
(Alinsia glances at the others. The others look nervous.)
Uriel: Maybe the middle of the book would be better after all.
Callista: What, scared?
Uriel (swallowing nervously): No, no, not at all.
Alinsia (to Damek): I will bet that he forgets that in a few seconds.
(Damek and Alinsia chuckle.)
Damek: So, when are you going to introduce Alinsia?
Nicki T.: Soon.
Alinsia: May I take Bistort with me?
Uriel: Who's Bistort again?
Alinsia: My wolf.
Nicki T.: Sure, why not?
Uriel: What am I allowed to take?
Nicki T.: We'll get to that when you meet up with everyone else.
Uriel: Why can't we decide it now?
Nicki T.: I could, of course, have you leave home with just the clothes on your back and a sword.
Uriel: That sounds great!
(Callista, Damek, and Alinsia snigger. So does Nicki T.)
Uriel: What's so funny?
Callista: You're crazy, you know.
Uriel: What gave you that idea?
Callista: You'll find out.
Alinsia (to Damek and Callista): You see, I was right. He did forget.

Opinions on my characters, please? (Yes, Uriel is crazy. He will learn that eventually. I hope.)
Hello, everybody!

The book I was waiting for at the library, Point Blank, has finally arrived at the library! Read it in one day. Loved it. Brother read it. Ensured that the next book in the series was on hold. I was very pleased that one of my favorite characters from the last one had come back. I love the Alex Rider books! Highly recommend them to anyone who likes spy stuff.

My sci fi is at last in progress. I just decided to try starting an outline and seeing where it went. The outline just kind of started writing itself, and the story is in progress. Mind you, the story changes as I write, but having an idea to change from it better than just writing it all down with no clue as to where I was going. I'm working on Chapter Three at the moment.

Well, just thought I'd post something!
Adios!

Tangled

Watched Tangled at last! I loved it! It was so funny! My favorite characters were Maximus the horse and Pascal. I especially liked the fact this movie was a musical. I would post some of the songs here but for some reason, I can't post any of the songs I find on youtube. For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, I highly recommend it. I also reccomend you look up the songs on youtube. My favorite one was "I've Got A Dream". Has anyone who's seen it noticed that the king and queen never speak even once? And now for some quotes:

Mother Gothel: Look in that mirror. I see a strong, confident, beautiful young lady. [Rapunzel smiles] Mother Gothel: Oh look, you're here too. [laughs] Mother Gothel: I'm just teasing! Stop taking everything so seriously.

Flynn Rider: [sword-fighting with Maximus] You should know that this is the strangest thing I've ever done! [Max flicks the frying-pan from Flynn's hands] Flynn Rider: ... How 'bout best two out of three?

[first lines] Flynn Rider: This is the story of how I died.

Flynn Rider: [Flynn looking at his 'Wanted' poster] No... no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, this is bad, this is very very bad, this is really bad... They just can't get my nose right! Stabbington Brother: Who cares? Flynn Rider: Well, it's easy for you to say... [Looking at the Stabbington Brothers' 'Wanted' poster] Flynn Rider: [in awe] ... You guys look amazing.

Rapunzel: [there's a rustle in the bushes. Rapunzel jumps on Flynn's back, terrified] Is it ruffians? Thugs? Have they come for me? Flynn Rider: [a cute little bunny hops out of the bushes] Stay calm. It can probably smell fear.

Flynn Rider: Hey, Max! [throws him a bag of apples as he, Rapunzel, and Pascal row out to see the floating lanterns. Max gets a suspicious look on his face] Flynn Rider: What? I bought them! [Maximus starts chomping away happily at his apples] Flynn Rider: ... *most* of them! [Maximus starts and his eyes widen]

Rapunzel: I can't believe I did this. *I can't believe I did this!* Mother would be so furious. That's OK though, I mean what she doesn't know won't kill her. Oh my gosh. This would kill her. *This is so fun!* I, am a horrible daughter. I'm going back. *I am never going back!* I am a despicable human being. *Woo-hoo! Best. Day. Ever!* [Sobs]

Rapunzel: So mother, earlier I was saying tomorrow is a really big day, and you didn't really respond, so I'm just gonna tell you: IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! Tada! Mother Gothel: No no no, can't be. I distinctly remember, your birthday was last year. Rapunzel: That's the funny thing about birthdays, they're kind of an annual thing.

Rapunzel: Who's that? [the castle guards] Flynn Rider: They don't like me. Rapunzel: Who's that? [the Stabbington brothers] Flynn Rider: They don't like me either. Rapunzel: And who's *that*? [Maximus] Flynn Rider: Let's just assume for the moment that everyone in here doesn't like me!

Rapunzel: We made it. Flynn Rider: Her hair glows! Rapunzel: We're alive. We're alive! Flynn Rider: I didn't see that coming. Rapunzel: Eugene. Flynn Rider: The hair actually glows. Rapunzel: Eugene. Flynn Rider: Why does her hair glow! Rapunzel: Eugene! Flynn Rider: [almost in hysteria] What? Rapunzel: It doesn't *just* glow. Flynn Rider: [Pascal smiles at him smugly] Why is he smiling at me?

Flynn Rider: [from trailer] I could get used to a view like this. Yep, I'm used to it. Guys I want a castle.

Flynn Rider: [Upon being chased by the Palace Guards, Flynn and the Stabbington Brothers reach a dead end. They are facing a cliff] All right, okay, give me a boost, and I'll pull you up. Stabbington Brother: [the Stabbington Brothers look at each other] Give us the satchel first. Flynn Rider: What? I just... I can't believe that after all we've been through together, you don't... trust me? [the Stabbington Brothers look at Flynn straight in the eye and crickets chirp in the background] Flynn Rider: Ouch. [Flynn hands the satchel to them] Stabbington Brother: [Flynn climbs up the Stabbington Brothers and reaches the top of the cliff] Now help us up, pretty boy. Flynn Rider: Sorry... my hands are full. [Flynn cockily shows them the satchel he had stolen from them while climbing up and runs off]

Flynn-I have dreams like you, no really!
Just much less... touchy-feely,
They mainly happen somewhere warm and sunny,
On an island that I own,
Tanned and rested and alone,
Surrounded by enormous piles of money!

Hope everyone got a laugh out of those!

One Year Adventure Novel

Has anyone out there heard of the One Year Adventure Novel program? Basically, you write one novel in a year. If you go to the website, oneyearnovel.com , and click on Student Novels Showcase, they have a bunch of stories from the kids who wrote them. The stories are pretty good. So far, I've read two. My favorite one was I Now Pronounce You Dead. It's a great mystery about a girl whose family runs a wedding service. When the bride is murdered at a wedding - in their own backyard - she decides to find out solve the mystery. It's really good! The guy who designed the curriculum also has a second curriculum called Other Worlds, which is designed specially for if you want to write sci fi or fantasy.

Just thought I'd mention it!

Lawrence Children's Choir - Seal Lullaby

My choir is singing this song. The first time I heard it, I didn't really like it, but if you hear it once or twice, it grows on you like a weed. I like choir/hymn type music quite a bit. In case you're wondering, the girl at the end who walks off was going to be sick. She stuck it out to the end, though.

Owl City - Alligator Sky (New Song - High Quality with Lyrics Video)

This is Alligator Sky, from All Things Bright and Beautiful. If two things pop up to cover the screen, it is possible to get rid of them. I LOVE OWl CITY!!! (I've probably already said that at some point on this blog.)

Does Anyone ELSE Have Trouble Coming Up With Post Titles?

Hello, everyone! Got back from my cousin's wedding a few days ago. My cousin Steve was marrying his girlfriend Angela. She had a gorgeous dress.

Have been wondering... would any of you like me to have an ongoing story? Not one on a separate page, but just one I post bits of? I've been thinking about that, mainly because I don't like working on more than one page story at a time. It would pretty much most certainly be a fantasy.

Am picking at my idea for a sci fi. I need a bit more of an idea that I have at the moment. All I've got aside from what I've mentioned in earlier posts is, well, pretty much nothing. I've got an idea for a guy who's, well, pretty rotten, but not completely. Not the official antagonist, but doesn't exactly help, either. (Kind of like Wolf from Stormbreaker, which is the only book in the Alex Rider series I've read. I would read more, but Point Blank hasn't arrived at the library yet. I really hope Wolf shows up again in the series. He was a rotten guy, but not totally evil.) I have absolutely no clue what's going to happen in the story. When I finally do, I will be very happy.

Okay, here are some completely random quotes.

If you don't read the paper, you are uninformed, If you do, you are misinformed.

The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.

- Mark Twain

Stories don't always end where their authors intended. But there is joy in following them, where ever they take us.

- Miss Potter (love that movie)

Agnes: Will you read us a bedtime story? Gru: No. Agnes: Pretty please? Gru: The physical appearance of the please makes no difference.

Light bulb!

Gru: We stole the Statue of Liberty...!
[the minions cheer]
Gru: ...the small one, from Las Vegas!
[the cheers stop]

-Despicable Me

Fred Randall: A glitch? No, that's not possible. I programmed it myself.

Fred Randall: Mom, going to Mars shouldn't be referred to running away.

[Randall is laying on the floor with socks on his hands when the technicians come to get him out]
Fred Randall: Can you leave me alone for just five more minutes? I just got into the third act.
[with an English voice and moving sock puppet]
Fred Randall: Yes! Close the door! It's chilly in here!

- Rocket Man

Okay! Adios!
